The Institute for English Language Education (IELE), Theodore Maria School of Arts, Assumption University, successfully hosted the IELE Language Café 1-2026: Languages for a Brighter World & a Brighter Future on 2-3 September 2026 at CL Plaza. The event brought together students, faculty members, alumni, partners, and members of the public to celebrate languages, cultural diversity, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The opening ceremony was led by Dr. Nida Boonma, Director of IELE, Theodore Maria School of Arts, who highlighted the role of language learning in fostering intercultural understanding and global citizenship.
Throughout the two-day event, participants enjoyed a wide range of interactive activities, cultural performances, and SDG-themed games organized by IELE and the School of Arts programs, including EIB, FIB, CIB, JIB, ECD, and GE, along with contributions from Assumption University Alumni Association (AUAA), the Graduate School of Human Sciences (GSHS), and other partners. The activities provided students with opportunities to practice English beyond the classroom while having fun, meeting new people, and learning about important global issues and cultural diversity.
A special highlight on 3 September was the Arts Open House 2026, which welcomed approximately 300 high school students and teachers from various schools. The event successfully strengthened collaboration within the Assumption University community while showcasing the University’s commitment to internationalization, language education, and sustainable development. Through meaningful engagement and cultural exchange, the IELE Language Café demonstrated how languages can help create a brighter world and a brighter future.
