Languages Without Boundaries: IELE Language Café Brings the World to AU
The IELE Language Café 2/2025: Languages Without Boundaries & Arts Open House brought the spirit of global communication to life at Assumption University of Thailand (AU), transforming CL Plaza into a multilingual learning space filled with performances, games, and cultural exchange.
A Warm Opening, A Global Vision
The IELE Language Café 2/2025 officially opened with welcoming remarks by Dr. Nida Boonma, Director of the Institute for English Language Education (IELE), Theodore Maria School of Arts. Her remarks highlighted the role of language education in fostering intercultural understanding, global citizenship, and confidence in real-world communication.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
From 11:00 onwards, CL Plaza turned into an interactive cultural playground featuring:
- Student performances
- Language-based games and challenges
- Cultural showcases
- Food and snacks from around the world
The Language Café embodied experiential learning, where languages were not just studied, but spoken, played with, and celebrated.
ligned with Global Responsibility
Beyond language learning, the event also reflected AU’s commitment to sustainability and global awareness, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and SDG 15 (Life on Land)—reinforcing the idea that communication is essential to solving global challenges.
An Open House with Open Minds
As part of the Arts Open House, the event also offered a welcoming window into the programs and creative culture of the Theodore Maria School of Arts, encouraging curiosity, collaboration, and cross-disciplinary engagement.
The IELE Language Café 2/2025 once again proved that at AU, language education goes far beyond textbooks, building bridges, sparking dialogue, and bringing the world closer together.
